Narrative writing

The children were given cards with Where, Who and Plot written on them.

Where: Camping
Who: A mouse
Plot: Someone needs help.
They planned a story and then wrote it together.

These are the stories the groups wrote:

Tom, Isla and Brooke
They were on a boat. They were sleeping on a boat and a mouse fell out of the boat. The mouse went "Squeak". The people screamed. The boat went "Squeak". It wasn't the boat, it was a mouse.

Max, Georgia, Alfie A
We were camping in our tent. It was fun and we got to have fish and chips on the first night.  Everyone was going to bed. When Mum and Dad went to go to bed, Mum had a bad dream that she had a mouse in the tent and then she screamed. But it was a turtle, it was funny.

Toby, Onnah, Sophia

We went camping and a mouse came to my ear and said I need help, my friend needs help please. He is stuck in a mouse trap. Can you help? Yes I can help. I was scared and frightened. Let's save him! They got him. Let's go! Thank you for helping me said the mouse.

Ella, Louie, Alfie J
We were at school camp and everybody had the same dream that was about mice being everywhere. The mice were in ice and a big bear was chasing them. Nana was ice skating on the mice and the bear. Before you knew it a duck was in there.

Lucy, Zach, Nakita
We are going to the school camp. I saw a mouse. It said squeak, squeak. Dad was scared. I think we need some McDonalds. Dad said ok. So they had McDonalds. It wasn't a possum, it was a mouse.

Alexandra, Zach, James
One night Mum and I went camping and we heard a skunk say, 'Please could you help me?' My friend was walking in the woods. We saw a piece of bacon, but it was a trap. My friend the skunk (Skunkus)got caught in the trap. I will help you. Mum got up and went to the tent. She got the skunk out and they lived happily 'shunkus' after.

Sophie, Willow, Amy
A lion went camping at my Nana's house. It roared. Nana shot out of bed. She screamed. She quickly called Dad. Dad caled the zoo and they put it into it's cage, but it saw a mice and it roared. The zoo keeper screamed loudly.

Manav, Nabin
We were camping. Everyone was asleep. Mum had a nightmare. The nightmare was about 100 mice. When Mum woke up it wasn't a nightmare, it was real! Mum needed help so she asked Dad and the children. They helped Mum.  Soon everyone had a nightmare, but the nightmare was real. Everyone screamed, but the mice weren't real. They were 200 possums instead and 200 rats too! There were 400 crickets too and 9000 ladybirds and 100 birds.

School will open at 10.30am on Friday due to predicted icy conditions. If you come to school, please wear warm mufti clothes. The roads, footpaths and school grounds will be very icy so please make sure you are safe when you come to school. We will stay in class for the day and will have a different classroom programme. We hope to have another play in the snow before we go home - weather permitting. If you have anything that would be good for snow art (making snowpeople) or something for sliding down on the hill by English Park, bring it to school. If you stay at home, please get Mum or Dad to test your spelling and they can e mail me your results. Stay warm. Love from Mrs Simmons:)

Good luck Ella!

This weekend Ella and her family will take part in the 40 hour famine. They will go without electricity for the weekend! Ella talked to us at assembly about the 40 hour famine and later she showed us how to make a tippy tap - a tap to wash your hands when you have no pipes or taps. Great job Ella, you are an inspiration to us all!
